When you’ve come to the end of yourself it’s just the beginning:

Isaiah 43:19 (NIV)

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Matthew 5:3 (MSG)

“You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.”

New things are always exciting – thrilling even. But what if just when it seems like you’ve come to the end of your rope that is when God is up to something new. This may seem like a good thing – in fact it is – but after you have come out of a dry period you probably feel so exhausted by life that as soon as the fog clears all you can see are the GIANTS. I imagine that’s just how the children of Israel felt after being in the desert for so long. They had been delivered they had walked through the desert but they were tired! Caught in the trap of complaint and doubt they weren’t able to possess the land. They forgot the mighty miracles that brought them out of Egypt and focused on their own inability.

Numbers 13:33 (NIV)

“We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak. Next to them we felt like grasshoppers, and that’s what they thought, too!”

You see it’s not about your own performance but your faith in the one that loves you and has your back! Many times at the beginning of the year we get caught up in our own goals and performance – and while goals are not a bad thing they are not the main thing – goals don’t save you – only a daily relationship and reliance on the Savior himself saves us from our own weaknesses and inconsistencies. You see it’s not even about how much we love God – the fact is God loves you more than you will ever love Him. Rest in the that fact today. This peace and assurance will give you the strength to keep fighting the good fight of faith.

1 John 4:10 (NIV)

“This is real love–not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.”

God has already given you the victory. IN CHRIST – 2,000 years ago. He went through every kind of strain, disappointment, rejection, pain – so that you could enter into HIS rest. Just when it seemed like all was lost – the devil himself thought he had won – crucifying the Savior of the WORLD – Christ ROSE from the DEAD! The greatest miracle in human history happened right after it seemed like all was lost. Maybe your miracle is just around the corner – you may not even realize how much GOD is working on your behalf right now at this moment.
