(notes on thankfulness from a sermon preached by a 2:9er to other young people).

How many times is the word thankful/ thanksgiving/ give thanks used in the Bible?114

  1. Big or small, we should be thankful.

1 Thessalonians 5 : 16- 18 AMPC

Be happy [in your faith] and rejoice and be glad-hearted continually (always); Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly]; Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].

> Be thankful always and for all circumstances and it’s apart of Gods will for us.

> Continue to show thanksgiving towards our God for all that he has done for you personally.

> Being thankful for where you are, what you have, and what you have come through (big or small).

> The magnitude shouldn’t determine the gratitude.

> It should not matter how great of the blessing something was/is, you should be thankful regardless.

> There’s going to be things that God has brought you through, brought you from , and brings you into that you’re going to be thankful for.

> What’s God got to do with it?

Psalms 107-1: being thankful for being saved.

> Be thankful that he saved us / sent his ONLY son so we could be FREE. We have EVER LASTING LIFE and were made righteous! – y’all if that’s not something to be thankful for, well then idk what to be thankful for. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Psalms 107 – 22: show some gratitude, don’t be rude.

> When you give God thanks you are showing gratitude for all that he’s done for you.

> How can we give thanks?

WAYS WE CAN GIVE THANKS

Obedience (actions) 1 Thess 5:18 “Gods will”

Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].

> Obedience is a living sacrifice of thanksgiving.

> Simultaneously using that same act of obedience to those in you’re life as well.

> That means your parents, grandparents, teachers, principals, deans.

Worship (songs) Psalms 100 – 4/5 AMP

> Joyful noise and thankfully worship him

Confessions (verbally) Psalms 119 -7/8

> Give thanks to him every morning

> God wouldn’t mention it, if it wasn’t important.
