Let God Romance You
Isaiah 43:1-4 msg
But now, God’s Message,
the God who made you in the first place, Jacob,
the One who got you started, Israel:
“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you.
I’ve called your name. You’re mine.
When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you.
When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down.
When you’re between a rock and a hard place,
it won’t be a dead end—
Because I am God, your personal God,
The Holy of Israel, your Savior.
I paid a huge price for you:
all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in!
That’s how much you mean to me!
That’s how much I love you!
I’d sell off the whole world to get you back,
trade the creation just for you.
The last phrase of this passage stuck out to me as just about the most romantic phrase ever and the fact that God was saying it to me in a time when I was feeling a bit lonely and disappointed was reassuring. He says, "I'd sell off the whole world to get you back. Trade the creation just for you." This is how much he loves you and I that he would use such expressive language to convey his deep and undying affection for each of us individually. He says - do not be afraid - your mine. The God who made me, designed me and has plans for me says I am HIS. I don't know about you but I get overwhelmed at times- even in the center of his will with a sense of purpose I can still feel like there is so much going on and it weighs me down.
During these times he says when you are in over your head - I'll be there for you! I have found when I take time to enter into his presence and rest despite my feelings - I have the opportunity to experience such a peace and joy to the point where I no longer care about the minute details of life and instead life becomes simple and carefree again. It makes me not want to worry about anything anymore and just be grateful and in awe of Gods goodness towards me. I am reminded of the song "In over my head" by Bethel and I would love for you to take a moment and and listen today. Allow this song to set your soul free and focus on HIM.
