Last time we talked about how we were created and what we were created from. We discovered that we were created from dust and the breath of God and that God created us to look like Him and to have dominion. This week we are going to talk about being created for God.
Jeremiah 1:5 This scripture says that God knew us before we were formed in the womb. Of course He did! He was the one that created us. He knows every thing we are capable of. He knows every strength, weakness, gifting, and hobby of ours. He gave those to us. He knows more about us than we know about ourselves. There are some things that we don't know about ourselves that God does know including our future.
Jeremiah 29:11 says that He has plans for our future. God had plans for us before we were born. He gave us everything we have now specifically for this plan. In other words everything that you are or that you have inside of you was created for this plan. The great thing about this plan is that it was created for good and not evil. It was created to give us a future and a hope. That's Great! God created a plan for us to have a good future. That makes me happy! I don't have to worry about having a bad future.
Isaiah 43:7. The main purpose for God's plan is to give glory to God. The scripture says that we were created for the glory of God. You might say or think that's kinda weird that God would create us for himself, but it's true we were created to give Him glory. Whatever it may be that's what it's purpose is. Some people live life thinking they are giving glory to God, but are actually focused more on themselves.
God has planned out everything for us including finances and provision and some people decide to go off and do things their own way because they think they know what they are doing.
Let's take me for example. When I was a senior (in High school), I was trying to figure out what I was going to do with my life and God specifically told me to go to Bible School. After a lot of saying no and trying to make up my own plans I decided to go to bible school and do what God said. After I finished 1 year there, I came home and started going to CSN. At first I wanted to be a mathematician. I started studying for that and didn't feel like that was for me. The next thing I tried was psychology and will that didn't work out either. Now during this whole thing people have been given words of knowledge that I was called to ministry and I was totally ignoring it. So after psychology I tried Nursing and that seemed like something I might enjoy. I said "this would be a good paying job that is in high demand right now that's perfect." As I started to be more consistent in my time with God, He started to show me things that had nothing to do with Nursing. He told me you'll always keep searching if you don't follow my plan. There is no type of job that will provide for you like my plan will. You will never reach your full potential if you don't follow my plan. So I thought to myself, being a minister doesn't provide for a family I won't make enough money. And then He told me do you really think I didn't want to provide for you? Did you really think I was gonna tell you to follow my plan and then leave you high and dry? And that's when I decided to trust God and pursue ministry.
I was living my life for myself and trying to provide for myself. In other words I was trying to be rewarded for what I did. I was trying to earn glory for myself. The reason why there are so many rich people that are depressed is because they have tried to earn a living glorifying themselves by trying to get people to love them and keep up a good reputation. The thing about people is that they always change. People might like you at one time and then hate you another second. If you live for the glory of God, you don't have to worry about that. God has already accepted you. He loves you so much He gave His son for you. Every rejection that happens when you give glory to God is not on you, they are rejecting God. There is no burden attached to giving glory to God.
James 4:10 Another good thing about giving glory to God is that when we humble ourselves God ends up exalting us. That's great! We technically benefit from giving glory to God. The more we humble ourselves, the more we are exalted. If we don't humble ourselves, we don't get exalted. You will never reach your full potential if you don't give glory to God. You will continue to strive and exhaust yourself trying to be the provider, but when you are following God, He is your provider.
My last point is that you were created to give glory to God, so anything else is not for you. There are gifts inside of you that aren't being used because you are doing things your way. You might be using your gifts the wrong way. For example a pen is made to write, but if it is only used to make a beat it will never reach it's full potential of being able to write and award winning novel or a play. God gave you these gifts for His plan and you will miss out on the hope and future God has planned for you if you don't follow this plan and let Him show you what you are capable of.
In Conclusion. You were created for the glory of God no burden attached. God want's to use you in a way that benefits you as well. If you do your own plans you will miss out on the opportunity for God to show you how great you really are. Follow God's plan that gives Him glory because that's what you were created to do.
